• 소개 및 적용: 5-Methoxytryptamine (5-MT), also known as mexamine, is a tryptamine derivative that is closely related to the neurotransmitters melatonin and serotonin. It acts as a full agonist at various 5-HT receptors, but has no affinity for the 5-HT3 receptor. 5-MT is a naturally occurring compound in the body, biosynthesized via the deacetylation of melatonin in the pineal gland. Research has shown that 5-MT has a protective effect against ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation in human keratinocytes, and that melatonin and its metabolites can ameliorate UVB-induced damage in human epidermal keratinocytes.
